THE OPPORTUNITY

The University of Maine offers students an incredible experience – world class research and learning opportunities in a small, beautiful, campus setting. The problem is that, outside of Maine, very few students ever consider applying or attending. In the highly competitive world of higher learning, students needed to believe that coming to UMaine would offer them something special, different and better – leading to the idea of “come up to Maine.”  We built a campaign that used highly targeted, efficient media placements at touch-points where students weren’t expecting to hear from us and combined it with the surprise of what a UMaine experience could be.

 

THE RESULTS

Over the first two years of the campaign, UMaine grew out-of-state inquiries from prospective students by 35%, increased out-of-state applications by 29%, increased familiarity by 157% and yielded a 19% increase in matriculated out-of-state students.
