DeLorme developed inReach, a two-way satellite communications device, to help them evolve from a producer of paper and technical maps to a consumer technology leader. We did the research and identified the key insight: The first rule of adventure travel is survival. We led with brand ambassadors; high adventure experts were given an inReach and asked to tell and share their stories. We then translated those stories for social media, interest-specific online and print media. This generated an entire campaign about people who survived, lived and enjoyed their outdoor adventures thanks to the security of DeLorme inReach.
Product orders exceeded production capacity, and the brand draws interest and engagement at retail, online, and most importantly in the outdoors.
